Nancy Lee Perkins, 77, of Winterville, passed away peacefully at her home with family by herside Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Nancy was born on March 13, 1947 to George and Martha Lequear in McConnellsburg, Pa.
After multiple moves, Nancy and her family relocated to Greenville, NC where she was a 1965
Graduate of J.H. Rose High School. Nancy spent her professional career as an administrative
assistant. Nancy was an exemplary human being. She embodied the best of qualities:
unconditional love, strength of spirit and unending generosity that could be seen in the way she
cared for her children, grandchildren, pets and countless others. Nancy had the most amazing
smile that always lit up a room and let you know that she was happy to see you.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Leggett,
granddaughter, Jaime Cunningham and brother, George Lequear.
She is survived by her son, Chuck Laughinghouse and his wife Samantha of Winterville; sister,
Suzanne Allen of Farmville, grandchildren, Matt Cunningham (Michelle) of Lillington, Samantha
Cunningham of Greenville, Emma Laughinghouse and Charlie Laughinghouse of WInterville,
Kaylee Leggett of Fremont, eight great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nephews and
nieces.
A service to remember Nancy will be held in the Chapel at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in
Greenville, NC on Thursday, May 16 at 11am. The family will receive friends and loved ones
after the service.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the quality care given to Nancy by
ECU Health Home Health & Hospice, especially Tanya, Melisa, Natalie, Hillary, Vicky and Jason.

Final rites and professional arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Family Mortuary.
