Ms. Crystal M. Matthews, CFSP
Licensed Funeral Director/CEO
Crystal, a native of the town of Pinetops, North Carolina, has been in funeral service for 12 years. She has been licensed as a Funeral Director by the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service. She holds an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration from Edgecombe Technical Community College. Crystal is a proud member of the Eastern District Funeral Director's and Mortician's Association, Funeral Director's and Mortician's Association of North Carolina, and the National Funeral Director's and Mortician's Association. In addition to those memberships, she is a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. Besides work, Crystal is the mother to both Tyler, a 2nd grader, and Janiyah, a freshman in high school. She attends Greater Joy Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina under the leadership of Bishop Shelton C. Daniel.
Irv is one of the business partners of Matthews Family Mortuary, LLC His responsibilities include payroll, personnel, and purchasing. He is a New Bern, North Carolina native. Irv has earned an Associate in Science degree in Teacher Education from Mount Olive College [now the University of Mount Olive], a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University, a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina State University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Morehead State University. Outside of his duties at Matthews Family Mortuary, he is employed by Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools. In addition to serving in our local public schools, Irv is also the pastor of United Friendship Church located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Bishop Shelton C. Daniel was born in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Shaw Divinity School, Winston-Salem State University, and Durham Technical Community College. He is a graduate of Liberty Bible College in Lynchburg, Virginia. He has served as the moderator of the Reedy Creek Baptist Association; which consisted of 36 churches at the time of his service. In 2009, Pastor Daniel embarked upon a divine assignment to birth a new work named Greater Joy. The work began with 12 faithful individuals. Within one year, God added daily to the growth of more than 1000 members. Today, he leads Greater Joy Church in Rocky Mount, NC and Greater Joy North in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Bishop Daniel is married to Lady Sharon Daniel. Together, they parent two children.
Tonja is native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She holds an Associate's degree in Finance from Nash Community College. She has been married to William for over 30 years and together they have two adult children. Tonja and William both attend United Friendship Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Deacon Greene hails from Kinston, North Carolina. He is a retired elementary school principal, having served for 36 years (1976-2012). He's a graduate of Fayetteville State University (Class of 1976) and North Carolina A&T State University. He currently serves as a Deacon at Saint John Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ in Craven County, North Carolina. Herman has worked in the funeral industry for approximately 20 years at Swinson Funeral Service in Kinston, NC.

William (also known as "Toot") is a native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He works as a CLT leader at Rocky Mount Engine Plant (Cummins). He is married to Tonja and together, they have 2 adult children, William and Bionca - both college graduates. William graduated from Rocky Mount Senior High School. He attends United Friendship Church where he also serves as Head of Security and a fellow Deacon.
Mr. JeVard Powell
Jevard hails from Durham, North Carolina. He has over two decades of experience in successful event planning. Jevard’s post secondary educational background includes Durham Technical Community College and North Carolina Central University. He is a proud member of Greater Joy Church where he is regularly involved in music ministry and planning other major events. He loves spending time with his family; which also includes his five godchildren and mentee. Jevard has a heart for helping people in various capacities, which makes him an asset to Matthews Family Mortuary to guide families into healing after the loss of a loved one.
Mrs. Jean Pryor
Jean is originally from Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Jean is a proud member of the Greater Mount Hermon Baptist Church where the Reverend Dennis E. Gunter is the Pastor. At Greater Mount Herman, Jean serves as the Administrative Assistant. She is married to Patrick E. Pryor; together they have 5 kids, 21 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Jean received her GED from Edgecombe Technical Community College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She is currently pursuing Nursing Education.
Ms. Latricia McWilliams
Latricia is a born and raised native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and a graduate of Barton College. She is the proud mother of Kayla, Jada, and Amari. Latricia is a Registered Nurse and has currently been serving in that role for 12 years. She is employed full-time at Brekenridge Retirement Center as a Nursing Director and Nash Healthcare Systems as a PRN staff nurse. Pastor Audrey and Anthony Hedgepeth lead Latricia in ministry at Greater Love Christian Community church where she serves as a youth ministry leader. Latricia’s experience in medical, oncology, hospice, geriatric, and surgical nursing attribute to the mission of compassion expected at Matthew’s Family Mortuary. She is honored to serve the people and the community at any capacity.

Mr. Tyler Daniel
Tyler was born in Durham, North Carolina and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2008. There he attended Knightdale High School. After graduating from high school Tyler attended Winston Salem State University for three years before leaving to work for UPS. Currently a hub Supervisor for UPS, Tyler is completing his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He loves attending his church and playing sports outside of work.

Joey is a Rocky Mount, North Carolina native. He is retired from the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office. He served in law enforcement for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice. Joey is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He proudly owns Grace and Mercy Removal Services and is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service as a transporter. Joey has 13 plus years of experience in the funeral industry serving a countless number of families in need. He is the father of Deboris, Sidorayon, and Joernest. Joey is a musician and trustee at Walters Chapel United Holy Church in Hollister, North Carolina.
Elder T. J. Etheridge
T.J. is from Poplar Branch, North Carolina. He has worked in the North Carolina Public Schools for 19 years and currently serves as a Bookkeeper and Data Manager for Franklin County Schools. T.J. is a father and grandfather; he absolutely loves his offspring. He is a proud member of Abundant Life Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Raleigh under Bishop Stenneth E. Powell, Sr.

Orah hails from Halifax County, North Carolina. He is a proud graduate of Southeast Halifax High School. He is a freelance photographer; he owns and operates Op Productions, a photography company serving businesses and individuals. Orah is married to Tomeka and they both attend United Friendship Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina
